The Shots for Tots & Teens Immunization Clinic is a drop-in clinic held at the new Coos Health & Wellness building.
Children birth to 18 years old can come between 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM with a break between noon to 1:00 PM every year in February. Children without insurance qualify for FREE immunizations. The clinic also accepts Oregon Health Plan, Blue Cross/Blue Shield, Pacific Source, Providence, Mode/ODS, United Health Care

The Coos Bay-North Bend Rotary Club and its foundation, the Rotary Coos Foundation are proud to announce recent grants totaling $19-thousand dollars. Past President, Steve Schneiderman, told the club at its meeting last week, that several grants were made to several non-profit organizations. Operation Rebuild Hope received funding for a fence at “Bryan’s Home” located on Highway 101 in North Bend. Others included the Coos Bay Coast League (Baseball), The SAFE Project (Scholarships for Advocate Training), Kids Hope Center (Family Fun Day Activities), SWOCC’s TRIO Student Support Services (home-building for limited incomes training), Movie Night for Seniors, and Bay Area Concert Band for flyers.

The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk event schedule for 2019 has been released. The Coos Bay – North Bend Rotary Club coordinates the event and The World newspaper supports it with advertising and maps. Each Wine Walk supports a non-profit organization building an appreciation for the arts in our community. Now in its 12th year, the Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk has contributed over $280,000 for local non-profit organizations.
Each month about 2 dozen businesses host and participate in the event in the Downtown Coos Bay shopping district. Event dates are on the first Friday of each month with no event in January. The Wine Walk starts at the Coos Bay Visitor Information Center at 50 Central Ave at 5pm and hospitality in local businesses continues until 7pm. The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday February 1, 2019 will benefit the Lab Band Program Association. OregonCoastLabBand.org is the website for information on this non-profit that supports and trains young musicians in our community. Bay City Swing is the premiere group that travels outside our area and frequently performs at community events. The organization serves young musicians age 10 to 21. Experienced members mentor their younger counterparts “Passing It On”.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday March 1, 2019 will benefit the South Coast Clambake Music Festival. Clambakemusic.com is the website for more information on the volunteer organization presenting its 30th year music festival March 7th, 8th, 9th and 10th, 2019. Previous years held Jazz as the focus, but the music festival now has a broader diversity of American musical styles featuring Swing, Blues and Rockabilly. There are dance floors and dance lessons included in multiple venues at The Mill Casino Hotel & RV Park.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday April 5, 2019 will benefit the Sea Breeze Harmony Chorus. The group is affiliated with Sweet Adelines International and has a website with more information at seabreezeharmony.org. The women’s acapella group performs in four part harmony in the barbershop style. They have a growing membership and practice and perform regularly. Expect to see them in performance during the Wine Walk.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday May 3, 2019 will benefit the Dolphin Players. The Dolphin Players operate a theater in Empire and produces 6 plays each year. In May we expect to have the Tall Ships visiting on our downtown boardwalk and the Dolphin Players have participated in Pirate Costumes in previous years. This year the Coos Bay – North Bend Rotary Club will be hosting our Rotary District Conference on May 3rd, so you may see a number of extra Rotarians participating. Rotary District 5110 covers much of Oregon and a bit of Northern California.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday June 7, 2019 will benefit the Egyptian Theatre Preservation Association. The City of Coos Bay owns the theatre which is operated by a non-profit organization supporting its operations including, movies, music, town halls and personal events. The historical theatre features a 1925 Wurlitzer Organ and is a visitor attraction that supports and builds community. The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday July 5, 2019 will benefit the Oregon Coast Music Association. OCMA presents the Oregon Coast Music Festival in late July. OregonCoastMusic.org is the web site for information on OCMA and the 2019 Festival dates are July 13 – 27. For 40 years the festival has featured a professional orchestra in three different performances, and a number of other musical performances throughout the community.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday August 2, 2019 will benefit the Music On the Bay. Music on the Bay is a non-profit organization that presents free concerts in Mingus Park on Thursday evenings from mid August to mid September. The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday September 6, 2019 will benefit the Coos Art Museum. The Coos Art Museum was founded in 1966 and features six galleries and hosts numerous exhibits and educational events year round. The annual Maritime Art Exhibit will be on display for the Wine Walk in September. Coos Art Museum is a featured stop on the Wine Walk every month. CoosArt.org is the CAM website.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday October 4, 2019 will benefit the Marshfield Sun Printing Museum. This organization maintains a 19th century newspaper print shop as a time capsule. The attraction is open to the public by appointment and during summer tourist season. The museum also maintains 120 year newspaper archive. MarshfieldSunPrintingMuseum.org is their website.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday November 1, 2019 will benefit the Dance Umbrella for South Coast Oregon. DUSCO supports dance education and provides performance support in Coos and Currry counties. They bring the Eugene Ballet “Nutcracker” performance to Southwestern Community College each November. Ballet Pacific is the south coast’s premier youth ballet company. More details and information are at Dusco.org.
The Downtown Coos Bay Wine Walk on Friday December 6, 2019 will benefit the Oregon Coast Historical Railway. With its location on northbound Highway 101, the Oregon Coast Historical Railway presents a great seasonal light display for the holidays. Year round the group maintains a great exhibit and a growing collection that attracts visitors and volunteers. More information is available at orcorail.org.
